{"id":11576,"date":"2022-01-06T17:13:16","date_gmt":"2022-01-06T10:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.moea.gov.bt\/?p=11576"},"modified":"2022-01-06T17:13:31","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T10:43:31","slug":"virtual-education-program-for-e-commerce-operators-on-consumer-protection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.moenr.gov.bt\/?p=11576","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Education Program for E-commerce Operators on Consumer Protection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 6<sup>th<\/sup> January 2022, the Office of Consumer Protection, Ministry of Economic Affairs conducted a virtual education program for e-commerce operators on Consumer Protection in E-commerce mainly to promote fair trade practices in e-commerce which will lead to protection of consumers engaging in on-line businesses. The participants included those e-commerce operators who have not attended the similar program conducted last year. The officials of OCP also attended the program.<\/p>\n<p>During the program, the e-commerce operators were educated on Consumer Protection Act of Bhutan 2012, consumer rights, and obligations of e-commerce operators such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Requirement to provide true and correct product information;<\/li>\n<li>Requirement to maintain consumer privacy and data protection;<\/li>\n<li>Transparency and disclosure of the details of e-commerce operators in their platform;<\/li>\n<li>Requirement to provide safe payment method;<\/li>\n<li>Obligation to product return, replacement and refund;<\/li>\n<li>Requirement to issue electronic money receipts;<\/li>\n<li>Requirement to comply with safety standards;<\/li>\n<li>Requirement to avoid misleading advertisement, misleading indication of prices, misleading representation of the product or services, and any deceptive practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moea.gov.bt\/?attachment_id=11578\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11578\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-11578\" src=\"https:\/\/www.moea.gov.bt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Picture2-300x206.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.moenr.gov.bt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Picture2-300x206.png 300w, https:\/\/www.moenr.gov.bt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Picture2-400x275.png 400w, https:\/\/www.moenr.gov.bt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Picture2.png 485w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 581px) 100vw, 581px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the second program conducted by the OCP, MoEA targeting the e-commerce operators operating in Bhutan.
