The Consumer<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Advocates and Gups are<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>individuals<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>identified by the Act to conduct mediation for consumer disputes according<\/em><em>to sections 91 (c) and 95 of the Act. The handbook enumerates the roles<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>of a mediator in general and also the ethical considerations required of a<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>mediator. It explains the prerequisites of mediation where the consent to<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>mediate and mediation settings are elaborated. It sets out the mediation<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>process starting from convening a mediation to finding settlement and\u00a0closing the mediation. The Mediation Handbook for Consumer Dispute\u00a0was approved by the 16th Consumer Board and Competition\u00a0Council (CBCC) meeting held on December 24, 2021.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>The\u00a0 handbook is a result of active collaboration<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>between\u00a0the\u00a0Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) and a group of final year students of<\/em>\u00a0<em>Jigme Singye Wangchuck Law School (JSWLS) who interned at the OCP.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please find the book as an attachment;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moea.gov.bt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Mediation-book.pdf\">Mediation book<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mediation Handbook for Consumer Disputes is a guide intended for\u00a0Consumer Advocates and Gups to help them mediate disputes as per the\u00a0Consumer Protection Act of Bhutan, 2012\u00a0and Consumer Protection Rules and Regulations, 2015.
