The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR) would like to update the general public on the operation of hydropower plants as of 8 PM (October 11, 2025) as below:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1. Tala Hydropower Plant: In the evening of October 10, the maintenance crews were able to access the dam top and successfully lift the overflow spillway gate. With more water discharge getting released through the overflow spillway, the overtopping of the dam could be brought under control.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
There is no overtopping of the dam taking place and river discharges are also receding. This has enabled start of cleaning up activities and restoration work.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
All six generating units at the Tala power plant are in operation and the current aggregate generation is about 800 MW. The operation at the Tala power plant is being closely monitored and coordinated with the river inflows and the ongoing restoration activities at the dam.<\/div>\n

2. Mangdechhu Hydropower Plant: The four generating units are in operation under close monitoring.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

3. Chhukha Hydropower Plant: The plant is generating at full capacity under close monitoring and in coordination within the ongoing restoration works at the Tala dam.<\/div>\n

4. Kurichhu Hydropower Plant: Operating at full capacity under close monitoring.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

5. Nikachhu Hydropower Plant: The two generating units are in operation under close monitoring.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
6. Basochhu Hydropower Plant: Operating at full capacity under close monitoring.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
7. Dagachhu Hydropower Plant: An expert design team led by DGPC\u2019s Hydropower Specialist is at site to assess the Head Race Conduit (HRC). Considering the extensive sinking of the hillslope in the HRC section of the water conducting system due to the flash floods, experts are being consulted for suitable mitigation measures. Meanwhile, the power plant is kept under shutdown so as not to aggravate the situation.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

8. Suchhu Small Hydropower Plant: Due to the damages to the head race water conducting pipeline, the power plant is currently under shutdown. The designers are yet to reach the site for assessment due to multiple roadblocks. Manpower, materials and equipment are ready to move to site for repair of the damaged pipeline.<\/div>\n

9. Punatsangchhu-II Hydropower Plant: Five of the six generating units are under operation. The sixth generating unit is under maintenance and expected to be operational in a couple of days.<\/div>\n
