Objective<\/strong><br \/>\nThe main objective for conferring the National Trademark Award by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Economic Affairs is to recognize and reward owners of trademark for their contribution to economic development. It is also to encourage creation,<br \/>\nregistration, promotion and use of trademarks among the entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Award details<\/strong><br \/>\nThe top three winners of the trademarks will be selected based on the criteria set in section 3. Certificates and Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:<br \/>\n1. First prize -Nu. 70000<br \/>\n2. Second prize &#8211; Nu. 50000<br \/>\n3. Third prize -Nu. 30000<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Section criteria<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants of the valid registered Trademark (s) will be evaluated and selected based on the parameters elaborated in the application form (Annex 1)<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Eligibility<\/strong><br \/>\nTo be eligible for the National Trademark Award, the applicants should:<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Be Bhutanese National<br \/>\n\u25cf Be Owner of the registered trademark<br \/>\n\u25cf Hold valid trade\/production\/manufacturing\/service license<br \/>\n\u25cf Have valid tax clearance certificate<br \/>\n\u25cf Not a previous winning trademark<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Selection Committee:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe selection committee for the National Trademark Award will be constituted by the Department of Intellectual Property. The committee shall comprise of following members:<br \/>\n\u25cf Department of Intellectual Property- 2 members<br \/>\n\u25cf Department of Industry- 1 member<br \/>\n\u25cf Department of Cottage and Small Industry- 1 member<br \/>\n\u25cf Regional Trade and Industry Office, Thimphu- 1 member<br \/>\n\u25cf Directorate Services, MoEA- 1 member<br \/>\n\u25cf Bhutan Chamber for Commerce and Industry (BCCI)- 1 Member<\/p>\n<p>The Committee shall evaluate all the questions given in the application form, out of 100 points.<br \/>\nThe Committee shall reserve rights to add any other parameters of assessment to enable to make judicious decisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. How to Apply:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe interested Owners of the trademarks fulfilling the eligibility criteria should submit the application form (Annex I) and declaration (Annex II) duly signed in a sealed envelope to the Department of Intellectual Property on or before 27th March 2019, addressed to the Director General, Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Thimphu.
