Contract signing for Design, Supply and Installation of 17.38 MW Sephu Solar “PV” Power Project

Sephu Solar Power Project will be the first utility scale solar power plant to be constructed in the
country. The project will be implemented by the Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy and Natural
Resources. The project is being financed by the Asian Development Bank and is expected to be
commissioned by December 2024.
The contract for Design, Supply and Installation of Sephu Solar “PV” Power Plant is awarded to M/s
Rigsar Construction Pvt. Ltd, Bhutan (JV with PES Engineers Pvt. Ltd, India). A simple contract signing
ceremony between the Department of Energy, MoENR and M/s Rigsar Construction Pvt. Ltd. was held
on 20 th June 2024.
17.38 MW Sephu solar power project will generate at least 25 million units of energy annually and will
go a long way in ensuring energy security for economic development and prosperity of the people of
Bhutan.
