Launch of Bhutan Trade FinNet System-Phase I

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MoEA) launched the Bhutan Trade FinNet (BTFN) System- Phase 1- Import by Wholesalers from Countries other than India on 12 December 2022.  The project was initiated by Royal Monetary Authority, Department of Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Department of Revenue and Customs, Ministry of Finance as key partnering agencies to facilitate sharing data related to trade, banks and customs systems. This system will eliminate the multiple submissions of same documents by the applicants to the different government agencies through the common system interface.

With the launch of this module all Clearing & Forwarding Agents and wholesalers importing from Countries other than India (COTI) can register as system users in the BTFN system at www.btfn.bt with effect from 12 December 2022. The department will be processing import licenses for wholesalers from COTI using the BTFN system with effect from 17 December 2022 coinciding with the 115th National Day.

Other modules such as Certificate of Origin, Import from India and Import by Retailers will be rolled out in the second phase followed by integration of banking system and electronic Customs Management System in the third phase.

The manual processing of the import license will also be continued until such time the system users become well versed with the new BTFN System.
