High-level mission of ISA

A high-level mission from International Solar Alliance (ISA), New Delhi is in the country from September 13-19, 2025, which is led by HE Mr. Ashish Khanna, Director General of ISA who has assumed the charge from March 2025. He has chosen Bhutan as the first country considering the focus on solar energy and the enabling policy developments in the energy sector. While in the country, he will launch the revised Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) which is part of the Country Partnership Agreement signed in April 2024 during the visit of former DG, Dr. Ajay Mathur, and the National Solar Energy Roadmap (NSER) prepared under the aegis of ISA recently by M/s Fichtner (India) as consultant. He will also inaugurate the National Focal Point Support Unit (NSU) with Hon’ble Secretary of MoENR where ISA is funding the creation and operation of the Unit to support the Ministry in achieving some of the priority programs to be identified under the revised CPS for support of ISA. The delegation will also visit the Solar Technology Application Resource Centre (STAR-C) at College of Science and Technology (CST), Royal University of Bhutan in Phuentsholing and witness the signing of Operational Agreement between ISA and CST-RUB where ISA will be funding the operation of STAR-C for two years.

This morning, he called on the Hon’ble Minister of Energy & Natural Resources and discussed about the latest developments taking place in the Energy Sector and the solar energy prospects to be supported through ISA under the CPS.
