January 5, 2026: The Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) organised a meeting between the Energy Sector and Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs and his delegation where discussions were held to enhance investment climate in the energy sector and also shared perspectives on successful regional electricity grid integrations like the ASEAN among others. Dasho Chhewang Rinzin, MD-DGPC and officials from DoE and DGPC participated in the meeting.
Professor is a world-renowned Economist currently teaching at the Columbia University in New York and this was his third visit to Bhutan. The DECC official presently studying on a scholarship in Columbia University made the connection possible.
