Startup Center Established

Hon’ble Tengye Lyonpo Lekey Dorji and the Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Thimphu graced the inaugural and consecration ceremony of the newly established Startup Center of the Department of Cottage and Small Industry, Ministry of Economic Affairs at Changzamtog, Thimphu on 25th June 2018.

The center was constructed with funding support from the Government of India under project-tied assistance. The center has space for 28 startups, two training halls, resource room, cafeteria and management office.  This is the first kind of Startup Center for cottage and small industry entrepreneurs where new and innovative business ideas shall be nurtured. The startup center would help the potential CSIs grow their business through shared space and other support programs such as but not limited to mentoring, training, marketing, product designing and development, linkages to financial institutions and other business development services amongst others. Moreover, the new center is aimed to facilitate entrepreneurs for sustainable economic growth, which is very critical to creating a sound entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The center will also have a Fabrication Laboratory which will help ease the process of developing ideas into products through prototyping.
