The 4th Bhutan Enterprise Award for the year 2016 was held on April 26, 2017, coinciding with the World Intellectual Property Day, in collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property.
The Hon’ble Lyonpo Jigme Zangpo, Speaker of National Assembly, who graced the event as the Chief Guest awarded the certificate of appreciation and cash prizes to the four winners during the event at Hotel Ariya, Thimphu.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs had instituted the annual Bhutan Enterprise Awards in the year 2013, mainly to reward and recognize the contribution of the cottage and small scale industries to the socio-economic development of the nation and to create awareness and self interest in the self-employment.
The Government of India’s fund under PTA project supported three categories of awards namely – Small-scale Entrepreneur of the Year, Cottage – scale Entrepreneurs of the Year and Woman Entrepreneur of the Year while the Rural Entrepreneur of the Year Award was funded by the Bhutan Development Bank Limited.
