The Managing Director for the UN Technology Bank for LDC Mr. Joshua Phoho Setipa called on Hon’ble Tengye Lyonpo on October 16, 2019. During the meeting, Lyonpo and the Managing Director discussed a range of science, technology and innovation issues concerning Bhutan and the need for a technology diagnosis to identify country specific requirements.
The key outcomes of the meeting were;
- Promoting the dissemination of technology to the grassroots level for narrowing the gap.
- Ways and means of ensuring that Bhutan does not move from being land locked to digital locked.
- Using technology to build the country’s competitiveness and comparative advantage.
- Promoting technology tourism.
- Promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The officials from UN Technology Bank for LDC are in the country for four days during which they will meet government and private stakeholders. The ministry wishes the team from the UN Technology Bank for LDC a successful outcome of the mission.
Attending the meeting with Lyonpo were the Acting Secretary, Director of Department of Trade and the Chief Planning Officer.
