The Department of Geology and Mines (DGM) would like to notify the general public that the Guidelines for Surface Collection of Minerals 2020 was adopted for immediate implementation. The Guideline was approved by the Ministry in the 12th Policy and Planning Coordination Committee (PPCC) meeting held on 20th May, 2020 with an objective to streamline the surface collection activity and address some of the issues confronted by the permit holders.
The new guidelines strives to brings more clarity in the application process, standards, rights and obligations of the permit holders for different types of surface collection activities, i.e. General Application, Surface Collection of Minerals from Active Riverbeds and Riverbanks Earmarked by the DGM and Collection of Minerals from Excavation for Land Development. There is a separate process for each type along with a timeline for application.
Therefore, all the individuals/companies who are interested to partake in surface collection of minerals are hereby notified to kindly adhere to provisions of the Guidelines for Surface Collection of Minerals 2020. The Guidelines can be downloaded from the download section of the Ministry’s website, www.moea.gov.bt.
