The Department of Trade signed a contract agreement with M/s. Sernyel Zekhil Company Pvt. Ltd. for Work Package-01: Site Development works including construction of boundary wall, retaining wall, entry-exit gates with security cabin, parking lots, approach and internal road, cable duct and footpath and drainage works for the Development of Gelephu Dry Port at a cost of Nu. 161.806 million on April 21, 2022.
The dry port facility in Gelephu is expected to facilitate cross-border trade through improved cargo handling services and bring economic benefits for the central, eastern and southern dzongkhags. The project is being implemented with the financial support from the Government of India. The duration of project for Work Package-01 is for 24 months and is expected to complete by 2024.
