Award ceremony for Made in Bhutan mark under Brand Bhutan Initiative

The award ceremony for the Made in Bhutan (MIB) mark under the Brand Bhutan Initiative was graced by Hon’ble Tengye Lyonpo Loknath Sharma on June 22, 2022 at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Thimphu. The award ceremony was organized by the Department of Trade with funding support from Enhanced Integrated Framework.

24 applicants submitted 70 handicraft products, ranging from textiles (rugs, shawls, throws, bags, cushion covers, etc.), paintings (both traditional and contemporary), cane and bamboo products, for the Made in Bhutan mark. Of these, 25 products consisting of textile products made from silk and nettle fibers using natural dyes, paintings using mineral and plant-based pigments qualified for MIB mark.

The award recipients were Ms. Wangchuk from Colors of Bhutan, Ms. Deki from Deli Natural Dyes, Ms. Sheeta Giri from Mountain Crafts, Mr. Penjor from Green Pigment Arts and Mr. Rinzin from Mineral Pigment Paintings.
