The Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Economic Affairs has formulated a draft National Copyright Policy in consultation with the World Intellectual Property Organization. The overall purpose of the proposed policy is to provide clear direction to systematically steer the development activities of the copyright system so that it contributes toward the growth of the creative sector in a desirable manner and unleashes its potential to contribute to a knowledge-based economy. The Policy would mark a significant development underpinning the Creators and the Creative Industry with concerted emphasis on creation, promotion, and protection.
The Department has already organized a National Stakeholder Consultation with the relevant Government and Private Sector and is now sharing the refined draft policy for public review and feedback. In view of this, we would like to invite further views of the stakeholders and the wider public to gather a broader consensus on the Policy.
