February 19, 2025

The Department of Water (The then National Environment Commission Secretariat) under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources drafted the water curriculum for the tertiary level, which was later fine-tuned in partnership with the College of Science and Technology (CST) under the Royal University of Bhutan. In July 2023, the “B.E. in Water Resources Engineering” programme was launched as a full-time four-year course at the CST. Continuing the previous effort, the Department of Water has engaged with the CST management to strengthen the newly launched water curriculum. Today, the Department of Water handed over equipment –High Spec computers, Smart TV, Drone, Camping gears, Flow meter, current meter, ADCP and Tablet, Echo sounder, Total station, Base Station, Aqua profiler, Kayak boats, and Electro shocker, cables and accessories- roughly costing around Nu. 5 million.
