In a move that fits with the post-COVID economic recovery efforts of the Royal Government, Hon’ble Tengye Lyonpo has been elected as the chair of the “Third Ministerial Conference on Regional Economic Cooperation and Integration (RECI) in Asia and the Pacific”, which is being held at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok in a hybrid mode from 28-30th September, 2022. The bureau also elected three vicechairs. The 2nd Ministerial conference was held in 2017.
The conference covers wide range of researches, reports and adoption of agendas and resolutions including macroeconomic policy tools, regional cooperation, fiscal and monetary policies besides country statements. It is hosted by UNESCAP and ADB.
Lyonpo also delivered a key note address on “EnablingResilience through Trade and Investment for Sustainable Development in Times of Crises”
Hon’ble Lyonpo thanked the august hall and representatives during acceptance note for the confidence placed in him and his country. Lyonpo had been actively participating and candid on trade diversification and regional cooperation. Lyonpo was also the recipient of “ABLF Statesperson Award” at the prestigious ABLF Awards, in Dubai, UAE earlier this year (March 1, 2022) in a virtual mode.
