The Department of Intellectual Property (DoIP), Ministry of Economic Affairs in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is organizing a three-day Virtual Training on Branding for the members of the Branding Bureau. The virtual training is a part of a five-year project titled “An Enabling Innovative Environment to Strengthen Business Completeness through Brands and Designs.” The Objective of the project is to empower the national stakeholders to increase their business competitiveness through effective use of the intellectual property (IP) system.
As a part of the implementation of the said project, a Branding Bureau was established on 26 April 2020 comprising relevant officials of the DoIP and the Department of Cottage and Small Industries. The Branding Bureau will provide technical and legal advisory services relating to IP (trademark, industrial design, geographical indications etc.) as well as non-IP subject matters such as marketing, advertising, packaging etc.
The three-day virtual training will build the required expertise and skills of the members of the Branding Bureau thereby enabling them in providing quality advisory services relating to branding to the stakeholders. Taking into consideration the current COVID-19 pandemic, the training is being conducted virtually and is being facilitated by the experts from the WIPO.
